Tony Ferguson positioned himself for a bout with Conor McGregor Saturday night, and Demetrious Johnson made history, as UFC 216 went down inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Prior to the start of the pay-per-view main card, the UFC honored the victims and survivors of the recent terrorist attack that hit the city. Over 1,500 police, firefighters and EMTs were expected to be in attendance.

Ferguson finished off the night with a third round submission vs. Kevin Lee, winning the interim lightweight title. The former Ultimate Fighter winner is expected to unify the belts with McGregor.

In the co-main event, Johnson set a new UFC record for consecutive title defenses with a fifth round submission of Ray Borg. In a bout he completely controlled, Johnson ended it with an armbar to record his 11th successful defense of the flyweight belt.

Fabricio Werdum had no trouble with a change in opponents, submitting Walt Harris with a first round armbar. Derrick Lewis was forced out of the fight earlier in the day after a back injury flared up and Harris agreed to move from his fight with Mark Godbeer to meet the former champion.

Mara Romero Borella submitted Kalindra Faria and Beneil Dariush fought Evan Dunham to a majority draw to begin the main card.
